my favorite homes are in europe. there's holland; my first time out of the country, school in a different language, so much newness about it, even in my memories.
bradford was only home for eight months and yet it seems so much more than that. my pakistani/british friends influenced my yorkshire accent, and every afternoon i'd run back up the hill to my house, the smell of curry permeating the street.
and lille. lille is beautiful beyond belief. it's charming and gorgeous and stereotypically european...it's perfect. lille is the city that i've fallen in love with most recently. i've wandered its streets for hours, listening to french and arabic and every other language. i love it there.
what is home for you?
an north west american town in the evergreen forests between the pacific ocean and the the cascade mountains where rain falls continually. a swiss village in the hilly farmlands near the french border. and a region in the west of france, perhaps not so visited as other places but beautiful all the same, where i live with my heart.
ReplyDeletethanks for this katie, so lovely.
i don't have a second home, really, since i've never really traveled, but still, i will one day :))

home is wherever my heart is.
ReplyDeletethough i live in england, my heart is situated in paris and montreal, canada.
home is where I learn to love.
ReplyDeletehome is green Wyoming plains and the terse understated Colorado prairies and Montana whitecaps and British Columbia river walkways and Pittsburgh bridges and Scotland's highlands and rain and snow.
Home is where I can be myself. I've always said that I have 3 homes... first would be my real home in Northern Ontario, Canada. Basically I live in what you might call a village... a corner store, library, a school, an outdoor ice-rink and that;s pretty much it... but I love it so much here. My second home is my grandmother's house. And my third home is the summer camp that I go to every year.

I live in New England and I can see myself living and dying here but I've always fantasized about living abroad and exploring and taking pictures while I'm there. Someday...
ReplyDeleteWe have family in Holland, and are going to visit them this spring. So these photos made me ridiculously excited!! I've only gone there once before, when I was so little I barely remember. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteHome is in MA. But my second home would be Virginia.

Can I just say--I'm seriously jealous?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! My heart's home is in the mountains of Maryland.
ReplyDeletebeautiful pictures. :)
ReplyDeleteHome for me is central Pennsylvania...land of trees and farms and mountains and friends and beauty and faith and HOME!
ReplyDeleteflorida. i may be living in georgia right now, but i was born and raised in florida. i miss the palm trees lining the interstate, the walk to the beach, the feeling of never having to leave summer... it's home and i love it.
ReplyDeleteI think of two places as home: Germany, with its bright green grass, cloudy skies, and ancient buildings (where I spent a large portion of my childhood); and Virginia. I can't really explain why VA is home...it just is. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. <3

I've lived in the same house my entire 17 years. In the middle of Illinois. Corn, beans, and a small town. Everything a girl could ever want.
