stalking the mailman

Let's play would-you-rather. Okay, go. Would you rather...

a) log into your email and have one unread message waiting for you?

or

b) open your mailbox to a thick envelope adorned with stamps, airmail stickers, and your name scrawled in handwriting across the front?

Yeah, that's what I thought. Throughout this past year, I've discovered the wonders of snail mail. In an era where our communications rely so much on cell phones, computers, and other such devices, the fact that that snail mail even exists anymore is reassuring. It's a slow process, yes, but not to be taken for granted and so worth the wait. And during that wait, I play a mean game of 'how many little goodies can I collect and stuff inside this envelope'. I'm sure my dear pen pals find it amusing. Okay, off to go stalk (ahem. patiently wait for) the mailman.

Do you write letters?

  8. I guess we share more than a name - a love of letter-writing! I write often to one of my dearest friends who, unfortunately, lives eight hours away from me. It's pretty cool because my dad was her dad's best friend when they were kids, and now we're really close friends. I know what you mean about stuffing goodies into letters! In my most recent letter (sent yesterday) I included a pack of rhinestone-cluster stickers. Maybe you could do a post with ideas for goodies to send with letters? I'm running out of ideas. ;)

Snail mail is probably my favorite thing on earth. In fact, my sister and I usually fight about who gets to open the mailbox. :)

  12. I love writing letters. Sometimes they're a bit bothersome to reply to (and to always have to buy stamps), but it's always worth reading a note in return.

  14. handwritten letters are my favorite. I was always the one sending letters to people for no reason at all. and collecting little stationery sets is kind of an obsession of mine. ;] getting a long, genuine, heartfelt letter in the mail is one of the best things on this earth, I'm convinced.

  15. Speaking of letters, I owe you one. And look at my playlist and my card and my goofily addressed envelope {messy washi tape for the win!}.
I write a lot of letters that I never send.

  17. I ADORE getting letters in the mail, but it only happens on extremely rare occasions, and part of that is due to the face that I don't write letters! However, you will be glad to know that this has inspired me to go and write a couple today!

  24. Letter writing is a definitely a lost art. I haven't written a letter in my I couldn't even think of the last time! When I was in my teen years at church, we'd have pen pals. I really enjoyed that! Now it seems like the only think I get in the mail are bills, junk mail, AARP stuff lol, my magazine "Country Living" which I so look forward to, and my TCM (Turner Classic Movie)guide. One of my best friends lives right next door to me. Maybe I should surprise her with a letter? What do you think? Hugs! (P.S. I know I am probably older than most of your followers, but I oh so find your blog adorable. I don't have any children (I am married) and if I could have one, she'd be like you (so creative, thoughtful, loving God)! I do have a wonderful furry child, Holly Noel, a sweet little tortoiseshell cat :) Keep on writing!

  26. I love letter writing! My best friends and I write each other, doodling and scrawling all over the pages. I do so love it. It's also a more personal way then texting and emailing, although those are convenient things.
