A while back, I was browsing some stores when I found a stack of old National Geographic magazines. I find old magazines incredibly interesting. Everything is still perfectly preserved from when they were first published. We get to see photos and read articles exactly as they were fifty or more years ago. There aren't a ton of things out there like it.
Here are some scans from the July 1955 issue of National Geographic.
I especially liked this ad for telephone booths.

ReplyDeleteLook at the simplicity of it all.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. I love what you girls are doing -- this magazine, the writing, the photography -- it's fantastic. This site is going to be big someday and so will all of you! ♥
ReplyDeletethis is fantastic. three cheers for telephone booths! I also have a fascination with old advertisements--in my history class last quarter, we got to look at some from the early 1900s, and it's just so cool to see how things have changed and to reminisce on how they once were.
ReplyDeletethat coke ad made me laugh. wow, to be honest, i don't know if i would've liked to be born in the fifties. maybe the eighties would have been more suitable for me.
