annie and the ink boy

Want to know something fun about today's guest post? Morgan, who wrote this piece, told us that this was actually something that happened to her in real life--she says that 'pretty much everything is true besides the time period!' Enjoy the writing and leave our guest poster some nice comments too!

The sun beat down harshly on Annie Carter's forehead as she walked wearily down the weather-beaten path. Beside her was her overly-cheerful brother Thomas, skipping along as he hummed a tune, avoiding the surrounding crowd.
"Hurry up, Annie, it will only take a moment. We'll pick up the ink and head straight home." Thomas said in a sing song voice. The slightest bit irritated by her brother's unnatural amount of energy, Annie sighed. She hefted her heavy basket of recently- bought vegetables, wiped a dark lock of hair out of her green eyes, and continued down the path.
Soon Thomas and Annie had arrived at the specific print shop. The bell above the door rang loudly as they entered. To Annie's surprise, a handsome young man stepped from the back room and stood ready at the counter. Captivated by his unspoiled face, Annie discreetly examined his features. He had dark swishy hair and becoming blue eyes, a lithe form and a kind aura. Suddenly aware of her dirty apparel, She looked quickly away and shyly smoothed down the folds of her skirt. When she dared to take another glance, she was surprised to see him focusing intently on her. Suddenly their gaze was interrupted with the arrival of the boy's father.
"Seth, boy, are you going to keep these fine people waiting all day, or are you going to help them out?" he asked. Annie, now glad she knew his name, ducked her head while trying to conceal her laughter.  Seth quickly and clumsily jolted out of his gaze.
"Uhh , what can I do for you?" Seth asked, turning his attention to Thomas, who had been watching in amusement the whole time.
"Yes, I would like..." Thomas rambled on about the ink he came to purchase. Seth finally collected the ink for her brother, making non-subtle glances at Annie out of the corner of his eye. She blushed. Finally Thomas paid the owner and it was time to take leave. Both sad and glad to be leaving, Annie made one last glance at Seth, and walked out the door behind her brother, hoping she would see the Printer's Son again soon.
