In fact, I can tell you now that it's sixty four days until my six weeks of freedom begin. And I can tell you that I have a lot of dreams for this summer too. Dying my hair and hanging out at the park with friends and going to festivals. Painting canvases and shooting filming and making art. Writing until my hand cramps and sitting under the stars and impromptu picnics.
And I can tell you too, that this won't all happen. But dreaming up plans, and waiting for the nigellas to blossom, and wishing for sunny days is all part of the inevitable countdown.
Sixty four days.
Summer come soon.
I am whispering this into my garden.

ReplyDeleteThanks Nina! I use a Canon EOS 550D (the equivalent of a rebel T2i) and the 18-55mm kit lens, but for that last photo I was freelensing. Basically, you switch your camera onto manual, set the shutter speed and ISO, and then carefully detach the lens. Keep holding it close to the camera body, but carefully shift it up, down or to either side. It can give a really lovely tilt-shift effect, or gorgeous light leaks. If you google 'free lensing' you'll probably find some more in-depth tutorials. Practice inside first!

Yep! The structure of English schools is a bit different. We get two weeks holiday at Christmas and another two weeks at Easter, but in the middle of each of our three terms we get a half-term holiday, which is a week off. So overall we get the same amount of holiday, but it is spread around a bit more.
DeleteAnd private schools get longer holidays, closer to the length of the American/Canadian ones.
I knew the structure was different, but I didn't know the summer holidays were so short. It would be interesting to trade for a year...haha.
DeleteI'm in college, though, so it's different from elementary and high school. I get a 5 week winter break, 1 week spring break, and 3 month summer break.
