tips & tricks | blogging

In case you hadn't noticed, the topic of blogging is a subject very dear to us all here. We spend a lot of time-sometimes, maybe too much time--constructing these online journals, and we all have different ways of going about it. Do you blog? What advice and ideas do you have to share?

Libby says
You will not know what you want to blog about straight away. Trust me on this one, okay? I've been blogging at my current blog for nearly two years, and before that I read blogs for a bit too, and I don't even know what I want to write about half the time. As teenagers, we are changing and growing and evolving as individuals, and you will constantly find new things to love and new phases to go through. Scrolling through my blog shows different obsessions, styles and emotions, and that is what is so brilliant about it. So if you cannot find a niche, that's fine. That's cool. That's brilliant, in fact! You're giving yourself such possibilities by not angsting over whether you are a style blogger or a craft blogger or a photography blogger. You're just a you blogger, and if it takes time to find out what you is, write about that too. Using that photo above as an example, I could talk about the sixties or my self esteem or the scars on my back that I don't normally show because I usually wear my hair down, or the way the afternoon light makes my face all warm and sunny, or how that jumper and that flower crown are my ultimate favourites. And they are all good and lovely and important things, and if I wanted to write about them on my blog I would because that is what I care about, and that is me. Okay?

  1. Thank you so much for this, Libby. This is exactly what I needed today. I'm currently having a hard time not trying to copy other people or try to be someone I'm not, because blogging is really about being who you are. Oh, and you're really pretty + I love that sweater.
    xx.

  5. I love that picture of you- you're so pretty!

Sometimes I feel like my blog is so random...it's not specifically a craft blog or a classic movie blog or a book blog. But it's also sort of freeing to be able to write about all the things I love instead of just one of the things.

  15. this is my favorite blog post ever. your blog is YOUR BLOG and if you have different interests on a weekly basis (or until something else comes along like me) and you blog about them, your blog is a great way to look back and see what they were and how you've grown up.
    bravo, libby!

  16. This was so encouraging! I way to often get discouraged when bloggers write about finding their niche, because I don't think I have found mine yet. I didn't know if any other blogger would feel the same way I feel about it, so that is why I was so happy when I read this :)
